Senior CMS Design Lead / BT
Working primarily with the HP/Autonomy Interwoven CMS I designed, built and deployed solutions to support the BT.com platform. I worked into a global team from Dublin, Ireland reporting into the Platform Chief Architect.
Primary Duties Included:
- Design assure and sign-off all CMS solution designs for our internal customers.
- Worked within an agile development cycle with multiple globally dispersed partners.
- Acted as technical authority for HP/Autonomy Interwoven products, ensuring best practice is applied and designs meet BT standards.
- Provided CMS consultation to our customers, working with multiple departments to ensure the best solutions are proposed and developed.
- Worked alongside web agencies and suppliers as per customer need to ensure web standards are met around accessibility and performance.
- Provided UX consultation on new website builds and drove information architecture strategy to align with content management best practice.
- Established best practice guidelines for all CMS activities within BT.
Major Projects
- 2011 : Relaunch and rebranding of BT Wholesale http://btwholesale.com on a strategic CMS platform, incorporating realtime deployments. Involved from the pitching and initial solution design, to driving the information architecture to the final build and release.
- 2010 : Migration of BT Business http://business.bt.com off Vignette into a business enabled strategic CMS. Automated the integration with Baynote, Google Sitemap and LivePerson. Responsible for the traffic management, caching solution and CMS design.

Senior Interwoven Solution Architect/Lead Applications Developer / BT Global Services
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the strategy, design and development of all CMS projects, including OpenDeploy, DataDeploy, Templating & workflow.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of 200+ sites.
- Worked closely with the network teams to spec out all new servers to meet current/future load.
- Responsible for the planning and execution of all TeamSite upgrades and service packs.
- Provide justification for all technology choices and direction.
- As Technical Lead I held chaired monthly developer sessions, bringing together the pan-European development team to exchange ideas and promote team working.
- As line manger to members of the Irish CMS support/development teams, I fulfilled all line manager duties including quarterly and annual performance reviews.
Achievements
- Designed and seamlessly implemented a migration and upgrade strategy, moving a 40GB TeamSite implementation to a new TeamSite 6.5 environment.
- Lead the team in the redesign and redevelopment of the BTGS CMS.
- Instrumental in ensuring the transformation of btglobalservices.com from a static site to a global, Multilanguage/Multiplatform one.
- Conceived the design and lead on the implementation of two new publishing frameworks, Apache Cocoon and a custom ISAPI/.NET solution to deliver the all content.
- Proposed interactive training material to cut costs and better inform the growing CMS user base.
- Architected the largest CMS in BT, and largest content managed intranet in Europe.
- CMS was nominated for Best CMS implementation in the Information Management Award in 2004 & 2005, winning it in 2004.
- Wrote & presented a successful developers track-session at Interwoven GearUp Europe London in October 2005 entitled “Upgrading to TeamSite 6.5, Lessons Learned & Customisation Advice”.

Interwoven Consultant & Technical Trainer / VHI
A contract position by Labyrinth BT, lasting a month, consisting of three phases, design consultation, assurance and technical training.
Responsibilities
- TeamSite implementation design guidance to support their TeamSite 5.5.2 implementation.
- Verified and design assured prior to coding with their lead solution designer.
- Developed and presented a comprehensive on-site TeamSite technical training course, including basic concepts, Templating and workflow.

Interwoven Developer/Applications Developer / BT Ignite
Labyrinth was awarded the contract to develop and manage the BT Ignite Intranet and Internet sites, all managed from a central TeamSite 5.5.2 environment. I moved into this team, ran from Dublin, which was dispersed across Holland and the UK.
Responsibilities
- This was a challenging role as I needed to up-skill and understand a live TeamSite 5.5.2 implementation in order to design additional solutions.
- Required a high turn around of web development solutions within the CMS to meet aggressive global marketing deadlines.
- Support of the current live and development CMS servers, including all legacy code/apps.
- Highly involved with the business in requirement guarding and solution design.
Achievements
- Instrumental in leading the development of two intranet/internet re-brands, ensuring the business expectations where exceeded on both occasions.
- Released new harmonised templates to cover all BT global products.
- I co-wrote the re-architectural documentation for a new CMS, conceiving both a new branching model and proposing new front end technology to implement/support the solution.

- Founding member of the QA department, responsible for the testing of all new releases.
