Patrick Mooney is a senior product design and UX leader with 25+ years’ experience shaping enterprise-scale digital products, platforms, design systems and operating models.

He works at the intersection of product design, AI and enterprise systems - defining the foundations that help large organisations deliver consistent, accessible and trusted experiences across complex product ecosystems.

His work spans agentic UI, conversational experiences, design systems, governance models, core customer journeys and cross-functional design leadership. He focuses on aligning teams across product, engineering, brand, accessibility and business strategy to create experiences that are scalable, responsible and human.

Patrick is Senior Director, Agentic + Core Experiences & Design System at UnitedHealth Group, where he leads enterprise-scale product design across Optum and UnitedHealthcare.

His remit spans the Optum App, UHC App, Optum.com, Optum Assistant, Avery, conversational search, card-based interaction patterns, design system governance and the AI experience layer that sits across customer-facing journeys.

Based in Dublin, he leads global teams across Ireland, India, Bulgaria, wider Europe and the Americas, setting design vision, operating models and experience standards that help teams deliver at scale across complex enterprise environments.

Patrick is known for combining strategic design leadership with practical delivery — building high-performing teams, maturing design systems, improving governance and helping organisations move from fragmented journeys to more coherent product ecosystems.

Patrick founded Dublin UX in 2015 and has grown it into Ireland’s largest UX and product design community, with more than 4,200 members and 55+ events.

As Founder and Host, he curates conversations that connect Ireland’s design community across UX, product design, research, content, service design, accessibility, leadership and emerging technology.

Dublin UX has become a long-running platform for learning, connection and visibility within the Irish design community — bringing practitioners together to share ideas, challenge practice and support the next generation of design talent.

Patrick is Chair of the Pride Employee Resource Group for UnitedHealth Group across Ireland and the UK.

In this role, he leads initiatives that support visibility, allyship, inclusion and belonging across a large, distributed organisation. His work focuses on creating moments of connection, education and advocacy that help people feel seen, supported and able to bring more of themselves to work.
