Patrick Mooney is a Senior Director of Experience and Design with over 25 years of expertise leading digital innovation across healthcare, telecommunications, enterprise platforms, and emerging technologies. At Optum, he oversees a global team of more than 40 designers, researchers, and content strategists, delivering cohesive strategies across a portfolio of over 20 products supporting millions of users worldwide.

Patrick operates as a strategic partner to executive leadership, collaborating with Product, Technology, and Business teams to drive multi-year digital transformation roadmaps, scale design maturity, and deliver measurable business impact. His leadership has accelerated product adoption, improved operational efficiency, and enhanced customer experience metrics across the enterprise.

He brings a unique perspective to product design, grounded in both technical expertise and creative vision, making him adept at simplifying complex systems into intuitive, scalable solutions. His career includes building and scaling UX organisations from the ground up — founding Optum’s Dublin UX Design Studio and previously shaping UX strategy at BT’s Osmosoft division.

In addition to his corporate leadership, Patrick is a long-standing champion of the design community. In 2015, he founded Dublin UX, now Ireland’s largest design-focused meetup with over 4,200 members, and regularly speaks at industry events. As Chair of the Ireland & UK Pride Employee Resource Group, he also leads cultural transformation initiatives that advance diversity, inclusion, belonging, and community engagement across Optum.
